What DB Heavent Rounded is

DB Heavent Rounded is the rounded-terminal cut of DB Fonts’ Heavent family, shipping 14 styles that cover three condensed widths and four upright weights, each with a matching italic, at 5,350 THB per family. The skeleton and proportions come straight from Heavent; what changes is that every stroke end is rounded (dbfont.biz, accessed 5 August 2026).

The foundry introduces this one with the joke “ไม่ต้องศัลยกรรม เพราะหน้ามน โดยกำเนิด” — “no surgery needed, a naturally round face” — and tags it Thai Sans, Advertising, Agency, Corporate, Heading, Mega-Family, Modern and Rounded. DB Fonts (Dear Book), founded by Parinya Rojarayanond, is credited as Thailand’s first digital type foundry, established in the late 1980s (Luc Devroye, accessed 16 July 2026).

How DB Heavent Rounded differs from DB Heavent

Two things differ: the shape of the stroke terminals, and the set of cuts you get. Standard DB Heavent goes deep on weight — seven steps from UltraLight to Black — while DB Heavent Rounded drops the lightest weights and adds three condensed widths instead.

How to choose: for corporate identity, annual reports or advertising that must look sharp, use DB Heavent. For children’s apps, healthcare communication, hospital wayfinding or any brand that wants a softer voice, use the rounded cut on this page. Is DB Heavent Rounded free to download?

No. DB Heavent Rounded is a paid font at 5,350 THB per family. It is not on Google Fonts and there is no foundry-authorised free version. The correct route is to buy from DB Fonts directly, paying by bank transfer; the foundry states that once payment is transferred the order is final and cannot be cancelled.

The foundry also publishes the condition “ห้ามใช้ฟอนต์ DB ผ่าน AI โดยไม่ซื้อ” — DB fonts may not be used through AI without purchase — which covers feeding the font files to generative AI tools (dbfont.biz how-to-purchase, accessed 5 August 2026). Embedding as a webfont requires a separate per-domain licence.

Files circulating on international aggregator sites are not authorised distributions, and they tend to be older versions with misplaced vowel and tone marks — a defect that shows up especially badly in a rounded face, where the rounded forms already tighten the gap between mark and consonant.

Free Thai alternatives

Straight answer: there is no open-licensed Thai rounded family that substitutes for DB Heavent Rounded directly. A rounded Thai family with condensed cuts and full italics essentially does not exist in the free tier. What you can do is pick a free face with a comparably warm tone and accept that the layout will shift:

• Itim — a casual OFL Thai face from Cadson Demak with a playful, friendly tone. Single weight only, so it works for headlines and children’s material but not for a multi-weight system
• Mitr — six-weight loopless Thai sans from Cadson Demak under the OFL, with softer letterforms than most geometric sans faces; the most practical free option when you need several weights
• Prompt — neutral loopless sans, nine weights with italics, for cases where the real requirement is weight range rather than rounded terminals

Character design and tone

DB Heavent Rounded takes Heavent’s compact, space-efficient letterforms and rounds the stroke terminals, producing an approachable sans that still packs tightly into small UI and signage. The three condensed cuts keep the family economical with horizontal space — the point where it separates itself from most rounded faces, which tend to bloom outwards and eat measure.

Consonants like ก, ถ and ภ carry Heavent’s efficient structure with softened ends that read gentler and more casual. The Black cut gives enough presence for large headings, while the condensed cuts hold long labels to a measure. Both Thai ก-ฮ and Latin A-Z are covered, so bilingual work can be set from one family.

The overall register is warm and practical — a workhorse sans that feels friendly rather than formal, unlike DB Helvethaica X, which sets out to be a full corporate voice.

Best use cases

DB Heavent Rounded suits friendly interfaces, wayfinding and information design that needs a soft but space-efficient Thai sans. Strong briefs:

• App and web UI wanting a warm tone — especially finance and health products that need to take the edge off dense numbers
• Signage and wayfinding, where the condensed cuts fit long strings onto one sign
• Children’s, education and public-health communication
• Infographics and dense label layouts that must stay legible small
• Consumer packaging that wants an informal voice

Where it doesn’t fit: formal corporate identity that wants sharpness — use DB Heavent — and open-licence or zero-budget projects.
