What TG Arun is
TG Arun is an original geometric loopless Thai and Latin display family in four weights (Light 300, Regular 400, Medium 500, Bold 700), drawn and built by ThaiGraph and sold under a desktop, web and logo licence from ฿590. Every letter is a monoline stroke with round terminals: the traditional Thai loop is reduced to a small notch or bar, the bowls are true circles and stadiums, and the Latin is built on the same circle so mixed Thai–English headlines read as one voice. It is a display face. It was made for headlines, posters, packaging, signage, social graphics and logos, not for a paragraph of body copy.
The name comes from arun (อรุณ), dawn. The family is the first original design to come out of the ThaiGraph font-factory, the same production pipeline we teach in the toolkit and use to build our free ThaiGraph Condensed.
Who TG Arun is for
TG Arun suits anyone setting Thai headlines who wants a clean geometric voice without the round-loop texture of a traditional face: brand designers, packaging designers, poster and event work, app and web hero sections, and studios that need a distinctive loopless display family they are allowed to use in a logo. The Standard Licence includes logo and brand use, merchandise for sale, and self-hosted web use on your own domains, so the three uses that most often need an extra licence elsewhere are covered by every tier here.
If you need a text face for long documents, this is the wrong font. Use Sarabun or Anuphan for the body and TG Arun for the heading; those pairings are listed at the bottom of this page.
Weights, character set and Thai shaping
The family ships four static weights as TTF (for installation) and WOFF2 (for the web), each with 199 glyphs: the complete Thai block (44 consonants, every vowel and tone mark, all signs, Thai digits ๐–๙ and ฿), Latin A–Z and a–z, lining figures, and the punctuation and symbols a headline needs. Weight is a single parameter of the design, so the four weights share identical proportions and spacing and can be mixed freely in one layout.
| Weight | CSS value | Stroke (em units) |
|---|---|---|
| TG Arun Light | 300 | 55 |
| TG Arun Regular | 400 | 85 |
| TG Arun Medium | 500 | 105 |
| TG Arun Bold | 700 | 130 |
Thai shaping is handled the way a Thai font has to handle it, not left to the operating system. Above-vowels and tone marks are positioned with mark and mkmk anchors computed from each base letter’s real height, so a tone on ป or ฝ rides higher than the same tone on บ. ญ and ฐ swap to descender-less forms in front of ุ and ู through ccmp, and ำ decomposes so its ring stacks correctly under a tone mark. Every base-plus-mark combination in the Thai block is checked for collisions in all four weights before a build is allowed to ship. The live specimen above is rendered from the same WOFF2 files you receive.
What the licence includes and what it costs
One payment buys the TG Arun Standard Licence, a perpetual licence covering desktop use, self-hosted webfont use on domains you own, logos and brand identities, PDF embedding and unlimited merchandise for sale, in three tiers that differ only in how many people may install the font: Individual ฿590 ($19) for one person, Team ฿1,990 ($59) for up to 10 people, and Company ฿4,900 ($149) for up to 50. You can move up a tier at any time by paying the difference. The seller and licensor is ConnectEra LLC. App and game embedding, ebook embedding and design-tool services that let third parties typeset with the font need a separate agreement; redistributing or reselling the files is never permitted. The full text is on the TG Arun licence page and ships inside the zip as Licence/EULA-Standard-EN.txt, alongside a Thai summary, a fill-in licence certificate and the price list for the extensions above.
Refunds follow the licence: font files cannot be returned once downloaded, so the fee is final unless the font fails to install or render as described and we cannot fix it within 14 days, or you ask for a refund within 14 days without having installed it. For how font licences work in general, including the difference between this and an OFL font, see the Thai font licensing guide.
How TG Arun was made
TG Arun is an original design: every glyph is a hand-authored stroke skeleton compiled by the ThaiGraph font-factory into outlines, mark anchors and OpenType features, and it contains no outline data from any other font. Weights are produced by re-rendering the same skeletons at a different stroke width rather than by interpolating between drawn masters, which is why the family is so consistent from Light to Bold and why the whole design fits in a few hundred lines of data.
The same engine, and the scripts that check the result, are what we sell in the font toolkit. Buying TG Arun buys a finished family; buying the toolkit buys the means to make your own.
How to buy and install
Click the buy button above, pay by card in the secure checkout, and the download link appears immediately and arrives by email; unzip, install the TTF files, and keep the link, because 1.x updates are delivered through it. On Windows, right-click each TTF and choose Install; on macOS, double-click and choose Install Font. For the web, copy the WOFF2 files to your own server and declare them with @font-face, which the licence already permits. Try the family on your own headline first with the Thai font tester, and browse the rest of the paid Thai fonts we cover if you want to compare.
Known limits of version 1.000
Version 1.000 is a display family with four upright weights, no italics and no variable font, and its heaviest weight deliberately closes the small heads of letters such as ค and ฃ at very large sizes. Those are choices, not bugs, but if a glyph looks wrong to you in real use, email [email protected] with a screenshot and the word: corrections ship as free 1.x updates to every licensee.
